A few years ago on our way to 1000 Islands in New York, my husband and I stopped at a garage sale in Clayton. We bought a treasure chest for $20. Actually, it was one of those US Army issued ammo boxes, about half the size of a refrigerator. Inside the box was a jacket/shirt with the name "Southwell" sewn on, along with hundreds of letters that were addressed to Craig Southwell from his friends and family. There are also a few letters that were written by Craig himself. The lady that sold the box and letters to me claimed to be a distant relative and shared with me that she believed Craig had been killed while serving in Vietnam.
My plan is to share these letters with you and hopefully someone out there will claim bits of pieces of the story puzzle of Craig Southwells' life and legacy.
